Stephanie Mortimer

StephanieStephanie is very excited to share her creativity and love for dance with Element Dance Arts! Stephanie is a graduate of The University of Western Ontario where she studied honors kinesiology and completed a minor in psychology. She has completed courses of study in anatomy, exercise physiology, athletic injuries, sports psychology, exercise and health behavior change, modern dance, dance composition, group fitness and sports nutrition. While studying at Western she was heavily involved in the dance program through the school of kinesiology directed by Donna Peterson. Throughout her four years at Western she was a member of the UWO Dance Force as well as a teacher and choreographer. In her final year of undergrad she was the President of Dance Force, choreographing their final production entitled “Mise en Scene – the medium is the message” along side the team’s artistic director. Stephanie has taught in various studios in South-Western Ontario as well as free-lance choreographing for both competitive and performance events. Stephanie began dancing competitively at the age of three in Cambridge, Ontario and has since gone on to study extensively throughout Ontario, the US and Australia as well as competing in regional, national and international competitions across Canada and the US. Stephanie has worked with some of the industry’s most innovative and creative minds in New York City at Peridance Capezio Centre, Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Centre as well as in Melbourne, Australia at Dance World Studios. Stephanie is a very passionate and creative individual who believes not only is it important to foster a solid technical background in any dancer’s career – but it’s also important to ensure every child develops a love for dance.
